A period that arrives earlier or later than expected does not tell you the cause on its own. What matters is your usual pattern, whether the change continues, and how you feel. You do not need to work out a diagnosis before asking for help.
For women in Sarcarsamakulam and across Coimbatore, a consultation can be a useful first step when cycle changes affect daily life, work, sleep or plans for pregnancy. A short record of symptoms can make that conversation clearer.
What changes are worth discussing?
Periods may become irregular around puberty or menopause. Pregnancy, hormonal contraception, stress, substantial weight changes and some health conditions can also affect cycles. Irregular periods do not automatically mean PCOS or infertility.
Book a consultation if your usual cycle pattern changes, periods last longer than usual, bleeding occurs between periods, or pain or heavy flow interferes with daily activities. Mention other symptoms, such as tiredness or unexpected weight changes, and whether you are trying to become pregnant.
Bring a simple cycle record
A notebook is enough; you do not need a special app. If possible, bring:
- The start dates of recent periods and how long bleeding lasted.
- Changes in flow, pain, bleeding between periods or other symptoms.
- A list of medicines, supplements and contraception, plus relevant previous reports.
- Your questions, including whether pregnancy could be possible.
When not to wait for an appointment
Very heavy bleeding with dizziness, faintness, chest pain or shortness of breath needs emergency assessment. ACOG specifically advises emergency care when pads or tampons need changing every hour for more than two hours and these symptoms occur. You do not need to reach that threshold to seek urgent help if you feel seriously unwell.
Do not wait for an online appointment or message reply if bleeding is severe or symptoms are rapidly worsening.

Questions patients often ask
Do irregular periods always mean PCOS?
No. Several factors can change a cycle. A clinician considers your history and symptoms before recommending evaluation.
Should I wait until I have months of records?
No. Records can help, but you can seek advice sooner if symptoms worry you. Severe bleeding or feeling seriously unwell needs urgent care.
